A violent storm traps seven children and their schoolteacher in a cave.

Set in the 1950s, the story follows seven children and their schoolteacher who are exploring a cave when a powerful storm strikes, devastating the fictional town of Hills End. The group finds themselves trapped in the cave and cut off from the outside world, facing the challenges of survival and dealing with their isolation. Amidst their struggles, they also discover ancient Aboriginal artwork within the cave.

The mini-series was directed by Di Drew and filmed in Sydney in 1987. It stars Madge Ryan as Miss Godwin, John Noble as Ben Fiddler, and Peter Gwynne as Frank Tobias. The cast also includes a group of young Australian actors: Katharine Cullen, Clayton Williamson, Jason Degiorgio, Emma Fowler, Haydon Samuels, Caitlin Procter, and Keith Eisenhuth.

The story is a classic of Australian children's literature, known for its portrayal of children's resilience, resourcefulness, and self-discovery in the face of adversity.
