Plot summary
The movie follows Jim and Kim Harrison, a seemingly ordinary couple whose lives are turned upside down when they discover that their two young daughters, Jamie and Sherry, have a rare genetic disease called Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP). The disease makes them extremely vulnerable to sunlight, and exposure can lead to severe skin cancer, blindness, and intellectual disabilities.
To protect their children, the Harrisons must make radical adjustments to their lives and essentially keep the girls in the dark. The family must also navigate the public's and their community's reactions to their daughters' condition, as ignorance and fear create social hurdles for the family.
