Based on a true story, this drama follows Jean Donovan (Melissa Gilbert), an American lay missionary who travels to El Salvador amidst its violent civil war. Working alongside three nuns, Jean dedicates her life to helping the poor, inspired by the courage of Archbishop Oscar Romero. Despite threats and danger, her commitment leads to a tragic end at the hands of a military death squad.
