The 1988 TV movie "David" is a drama based on the true story of David Rothenberg, a young boy who was tragically burned by his father. The film features:
- Bernadette Peters as Marie Rothenberg, David's mother.
- John Glover as Charles Rothenberg, David's father.
- Dan Lauria as John Cirillo, a New York cop whose support helped Marie.

The plot revolves around the tumultuous divorce between David's parents. His father, Charles, kidnaps David and takes him to California where he attempts to murder David by setting him on fire. David survives but is left with severe burns, and the movie documents his recovery and his mother's dedication during this difficult time.
