14-year-old Jamie Grover is tired of being the center of her overbearing parents' world. When her mother, Nancy, becomes pregnant and then gives birth to quintuplets, Jamie is initially thrilled to have some freedom. However, her excitement fades as the new babies—Adam, Becky, Charlie, Debbie, and Eddie—take up all of her parents' time and energy.
The family's financial struggles are amplified by the arrival of five new babies, leading them to accept a sponsorship deal with a diaper company. The media attention and business arrangements turn the Grover family's home into a hectic center of publicity, pushing Jamie further into the background.
