Plot Synopsis:

The movie tells the story of Luke Constable, a young man from a wealthy Texas family, who finds love with Laurette, a woman from a different social class. Luke is Luke is left disabled after a car accident, and his initial fiancée leaves him. At a barbecue, Luke meets Laurette and they fall in love and marry, despite opposition from his grandfather, Lucas Constable Sr., a powerful tycoon. 


Laurette pressures Luke to leave his family or secure an early inheritance so they can live independently. When his grandfather refuses, Laurette leaves him. They later reconcile and continue their relationship in secret, but when Laurette's divorce settlement runs out, they move in with Luke, leading to his grandfather giving him an ultimatum: either leave Laurette and stay or stay with her and lose his inheritance. 


This leads to a tragic turn of events, as Luke struggles to cope with the situation and becomes increasingly depressed. Ultimately, the relationship ends in tragedy when Luke shoots and kills Laurette.
